It is far more - as you need to listen to the students and to understand how they are 'ticking'. When you get them the way they like it, they will learn and see results. Which naturally stimulates the teacher :) So "what does it take to be a teacher" - having knowledge of something the student is missing and being able to stimulate, motivate the student.
